Darin T. Hoover

Staff Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover, from Salt Lake City, Utah, was a dedicated and respected Marine Corps infantry unit leader. Born on July 24, 1990, Darin, known affectionately as Taylor, graduated from Hillcrest High School in 2008. His journey in the Marine Corps began on September 13, 2010, and he quickly distinguished himself through his unwavering commitment and exemplary leadership skills. Over his 11-year career, Taylor completed five overseas deployments, each time demonstrating his bravery and dedication to his country and fellow Marines.

Taylor's leadership qualities were evident early on. His ability to connect with and lead his fellow Marines was a testament to his character and dedication. He was deeply committed to ensuring that his unit was well-prepared and capable of handling any situation. His role as an infantry unit leader was marked by his hands-on approach and his genuine care for his Marines' well-being and development.

Tragically, Taylor was engaged to be married to his fiancée, Nicole, upon his return from Afghanistan. His numerous awards and decorations, including the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Purple Heart, reflect his outstanding service and sacrifice.
